Take Time for Simple Pleasures
Discover
the old world charm of a small New England town in the Farmington
River Valley. Chapin Park Bed & Breakfast is located
on the Chapin Park Green in the historic Pine Meadow section
of New Hartford. It is at the base of Jones Mountain,
walking distance to The Farmington River, and 5 minutes
from Ratlum Mountain and Ski Sundown.
This
elegant Victorian home was built in 1871 by Edward for his
new wife, Mary Ellen Pike. The home is filled with the artistry
of craftsmen dedicated to detail with carved black walnut
relief sculpted faces and white marble fireplaces. The architect,
Robert W. Hill also designed the Litchfield County Courthouse
and other local public buildings. The Chapin family owned
and operated the Chapin factory which manufactured rules,
levels and planes for the building trade. Chapin Park Bed & Breakfast
is in the historic district of Pine Meadow, which includes
many former Chapin homes. This knowledge of building is reflected
in the details of the materials used in the house. |
